Set in 2014, five years after the "Big Shell Incident" (the events of the Plant chapter of Metal Gear Solid 2), Metal Gear Solid 4 portrays a world where private military companies (PMCs), have replaced the world's position of the armies, fighting wars for commercial purposes. Nanotechnology has become prominent, both to increase the capacity and performance of the loyalty of mercenaries. The system that nanomachine using PMCs is called "Sons of the Patriots" or "SOP". The five largest of these private military companies are owned by a single mother company named Outer Haven , operated by Liquid Ocelot. The accumulation of an army whose manpower rivals that of the United States, Liquid prepares to launch an armed insurgency by taking control of PCOS. The rapid aging and disillusioned SOLID SNAKE (now known as Old Snake) is deployed in the Middle East by Roy Campbell to stop liquid. Weapons of the Patriots takes place in five locations: the Middle East, South America, Eastern Europe, the island of Shadow Moses, and Outer Haven.Platform : Playstation 3
